Who are Economy Seven Energy?
Economy Seven Energy are based in Leicestershire and is part of the Foxglove Energy Supply group.
100% of their energy comes from UK-based offshore wind farms. Economy Seven Energy say that not only does this mean that its electricity is 100% renewable, it also helps to boost the UK economy and create UK jobs.
Economy Seven Energy is unique in the sense that it only offers Economy Seven Tariffs. As such, whether Economy Seven Energy is the most suitable energy supplier will depend on whether you use most of your energy during the peak period or the off-peak period.
Economy Seven Energy offer a variable rate tariff and a fixed rate tariff. The fixed rate tariff is fixed for 12 months and there are no exit fees. Customers can choose between an electricity-only tariff or a a tariff for both gas and electricity supply.
The tariffs are for Economy 7 customers only. A standard tariff is not offered. There is also no ‘feed in’ tariff available, and Economy Seven Energy do not offer a pre-payment tariff.
Economy Seven Energy does not offer a specific tariff for electric vehicle owners, but because the tariffs are based on Economy 7, electric vehicle owners that charge their vehicles overnight could find Economy Seven Energy’s tariffs more cost effective than the non-Economy 7 tariffs offered by other energy suppliers.
Economy Seven Energy claims that it is significantly cheaper than the Big Six UK energy suppliers. However, whether Economy Seven Energy is suitable for someone will depend on their use pattern because Economy Seven Energy only offers Economy 7 tariffs.
Someone using most of their energy during the off-peak period will find Economy Seven Energy’s pricing more cost effective than someone who is using most of their energy during the peak period.

On TrustPilot Economy Seven Energy scores four out of five stars, with 65% of the reviewers rating Economy Seven Energy either great or excellent. Customer service and ease of switching were two of the main reasons for positive feedback, although the low cost of the energy is also mentioned.
Most of the negative comments tend to be in relation to billing issues in 2018 which Economy Seven Energy resolved by introducing a new system in 2019 which appears to have addressed the issues.

Economy Seven Energy insists that all of its customers set up a direct debit. However, they will also take one-off payments by credit and debit card, cheque and bank transfer.
