Who are Zog Energy?
Zog Energy were founded by two Queen’s Award-winning entrepreneurs. They aim to keep costs low by offering simplified tariffs and using technology to streamline their operation. They claim that this means that they can pass on their cost savings to their customers in the form of lower prices.
Zog Energy only supply gas as the moment. They do not supply electricity.
Zog Energy offer five tariffs.
Four of these tariffs are fixed-rate tariffs. Two have a fixed term of 12 months and two have a fixed term of 24 months. Two of the fixed-rate tariffs have a £30 exit fee, and there is no exit fee with the other two.
In addition to the fixed-rate tariffs, Zog Energy also offer a variable-rate tariff. This tariff does not have an exit fee.
Zog Energy offer competitive tariffs for gas. Their pricing is one of the things that they are praised for on TrustPilot.
Zog Energy has an excellent rating on TrustPilot, scoring 4.7 out of five stars. 90% of the reviewers rate the company as great or excellent.
They are praised for their customer service and low prices. Where people have been critical, they have responded promptly, either offering an explanation for what has happened or offering to resolve the issue.
Which? and Citizen’s Advice do not have sufficient data to rate Zog Energy at the moment.
Zog Energy supplies gas only, and it does not use renewable sources. As the gas in the North Sea is running out, it imports its gas from around the world.

There is no data available in terms of response times, but the reviewers on TrustPilot appear to have no problem getting in touch with Zog Energy.

You can submit meter readings online, but there isn’t an online portal as such. In addition, Zog Energy does not currently have an app.
Zog Energy takes payment via direct debit. The first direct debit is taken after the energy supply switch has taken place and direct debits are taken monthly after that.
Each monthly direct debit is fixed and is based on your previous energy use. However, regular reviews take place, and if your circumstances change and your meter readings show that you are using more or less energy that you were previously, your monthly direct debit may be increased or decreased.
You cannot pay by cash, cheque, or credit or debit card. Pre-payment is not accepted, etiher. There is no discount for paperless billing.
Zog Energy do not currently offer smart meters, although they plan to roll them out at some point during 2020.
They do not say whether customers that already have a smart meter can switch their energy supply to them although it is likely that customers doing that would lose the smart functionality of their smart meters and would need to submit meter readings manually.

Do they mention about the Priority Services Register?
Zog Energy operate a Priority Services Register and their website explains who is eligible and what extra services can be provided. However, the website does not explain how customers can get themselves added to the Priority Services Register.
Do they offer a ‘Dual Fuel’ discount?
Zog Energy do not offer a ‘Dual Fuel’ discount as the only supply one fuel: gas.
Will they offer to pay a customer’s exit fees when they join them?
Zog Energy will not pay any exit fees imposed by a customer’s previous energy supplier if they switch to Zog Energy prior to their previous energy supply contract reaching its end. Any such fees remain the responsibility of the customer.
What happens if you move home whilst with them?
If you are moving home you need to give Zog Energy two days notice via email or post. At that point your Zog Energy agreement will end and you will either receive a refund for any credit remaining on your account or be asked to pay any outstanding balance.
Do they offer any incentives for joining?
Zog Energy do not offer any specific incentives to encourage customers to switch their gas supply to them.
