Billing
When it comes to your energy account – getting regular, accurate and clear bills is understandably your top priority. To help us deliver this, we ask for regular meter readings as this is the best way to keep bills accurate. In the last three months, we’ve issued a bill to 99.59% of our domestic customers.
Response
The supplier regularly checks for accounts missing a recent bill and sends one out as quickly as possible. They have also improved how they estimate bills for customers without a recent meter reading. Alongside this, they are reviewing their communication methods to make further improvements.
Feed in Tariff
Sometimes this goes wrong and feed in tariff complaints can cover anything from a missing quarterly payment, difficulties with changing ownership, problems switching to another supplier or successfully verifying a generation meter in line with Ofgem requirements.
Response
The supplier has improved its online portal and mobile app to better support customers. People can now verify their meters by uploading a photo instead of needing a home visit. These changes also make it much easier to transfer a Feed-in Tariff account when moving house.
Payments
However you pay your bills, we’re committed to making things as straight forward as they can be for you. Direct Debit is the most effective & cheapest way to pay – once you’re set up, every time we receive a meter reading, we review whether you’re paying the right amount and let you know if the amount you’re paying needs to change.
Response
The supplier takes individual circumstances into account when dealing with payments. They always try to understand what the customer needs and agree on a fair amount.
Metering
Having a working meter is absolutely essential to having a healthy energy account. We’ve offered SMART meters to all of our customers and have installed over 58,000 meters now, with more than 51.5k currently on supply and over 95% of those SMART meters are healthy or have issues outside of our control. Occasionally things can go wrong such as an installation appointment not happening when it should, the SMART meter not sending us meter readings automatically or the in home display not working as it should.
Response
The supplier has a dedicated team of specialists to fix smart meter problems. They have set strict targets to ensure they keep improving this service.
Customer Service
Complaints about customer service cover all aspects of customer interaction with Good Energy, including our online portal and app.
Response
The supplier is always updating its systems so people can manage their accounts easily. They continue to invest in staff training and coaching to maintain their high standard of customer service.

Hi, I'm Rob, and I run Energy-Review.co.uk. I initially started this project in 2018 when I was looking to switch energy suppliers and found there wasn't a website that provided simple, data-backed reviews on all the suppliers available. Since then, I have spent a lot of time (too much, some may say!) looking at all publicly available data about each supplier and writing reviews using this information. These reviews are updated as regularly as possible, and any data is backed up by a source where necessary. I have also started writing guides on various energy-related topics, which hopefully you will find useful. If you find any issues, please use our contact form to let us know.
