Octopus Energy tariffs

Octopus publishes its whole tariff catalogue openly, so these pages show the prices themselves rather than a headline figure — half-hourly where the tariff is half-hourly, and for your own distribution region.

Tariffs you buy on

  • Agile Octopus

Half-hourly electricity prices that follow the wholesale market, published a day ahead.

Best for: households that can move heavy use — washing, charging, heating water — into cheaper half hours

  • Octopus Tracker

A single electricity and gas price per day, following wholesale costs.

Best for: households that want wholesale-linked pricing without watching every half hour

  • Octopus Go

A cheap overnight electricity rate for a fixed window, with a higher day rate.

Best for: electric vehicle owners who can charge inside the overnight window

  • Intelligent Octopus Go

A cheap overnight window that extends when Octopus schedules your car or charger.

Best for: owners of a compatible electric vehicle or charger that octopus can control

  • Cosy Octopus

Cheap electricity in set blocks through the day, built around heat pumps.

Best for: homes with a heat pump that can run hard during the cheap blocks

  • Octopus Flux

An import and export pair built for homes with solar and a battery.

Best for: homes with solar panels and a battery that can be charged cheaply and discharged at peak

  • Intelligent Octopus Flux

Flux with Octopus deciding when the battery charges and discharges.

Best for: solar and battery homes with compatible hardware willing to hand over scheduling

  • Flexible Octopus

The standard variable tariff, tracking the Ofgem price cap. Available on a single rate or Economy 7.

Best for: households without a smart meter, who cannot use the smart tariffs

  • Octopus 12M Fixed

A unit rate and standing charge locked for twelve months, whatever the cap does.

Best for: households that need a predictable figure to budget against

Which tariff can you actually take?

Most of these tariffs are built around a particular piece of kit. This is what each one needs before you can be on it, and what it is designed around even where it is not compulsory.

Octopus Energy tariffs by requirement. Each cell reads required, works better with, or not needed.

Pairing import with export

If you generate electricity you are on two tariffs at once: one for what you buy and one for what you sell. They do not have to match, but some are built to go together.

  • Agile OctopusAgile Outgoing is the matching export tariff, priced the same way on the same half hours.
  • Octopus TrackerThe only family here that prices gas as well as electricity.
  • Octopus FluxFlux is sold as a matched pair — the import tariff and its own export tariff go together.
  • Intelligent Octopus FluxAlso a matched import and export pair, with Octopus scheduling the battery.
  • Outgoing OctopusAn export tariff, so it sits alongside whichever import tariff you are on.
  • Flexible OctopusThe default tariff, and the one the price cap applies to.
  • Fixed Outgoing OctopusA flat export rate, so it pairs with any import tariff without needing to time anything.

Choosing between them

There is no single best Octopus tariff. The half-hourly ones reward moving usage and punish not being able to; the banded ones reward a specific pattern such as overnight charging or heat-pump heating. Each page states plainly who it does not suit as well as who it does.

29 product generations are tracked, across the fourteen electricity distribution regions.

Prices are read from Octopus Energy’s public API.
